Styles We Install

Retractable Awning Styles We Install

Not every retractable awning works the same way — the right style depends on your structure and how much projection you need.

Lateral-arm retractable awning on a South Jersey deck — All Seasons Awnings

Lateral-Arm Retractable

The most common style for decks and patios — folding arms extend and retract a fabric canopy without center support posts. Manual or motorized, covering spans up to roughly 20 feet.

Drop-arm vertical awning over a South Jersey window — All Seasons Awnings

Drop-Arm & Vertical

Mounted above a window or door and extending downward to block low-angle afternoon sun — common on west-facing shore homes that take direct sun late in the day.

Roof-mounted motorized retractable awning with wind sensor — All Seasons Awnings, South Jersey

Motorized Smart Awnings

A lateral-arm frame with a motor, remote or app control, and optional wind & sun sensors that retract the awning automatically before a fast-moving shore storm causes damage.

Fabrics & Materials

Fabrics & Materials We Use

We fabricate primarily with Sunbrella and Dickson solution-dyed acrylics, along with Sattler and Para Tempotest fabrics — all chosen for fade resistance, mildew resistance, and durability against the sun, humidity, and salt air that define South Jersey shore properties. Frames are aluminum, built to hold up against coastal weather without rusting or corroding the way steel components can near the water.

For motorized installations, we install Somfy-compatible motors and, where a fully automated system makes sense, SUNAIR® components for retractable pergola-style structures. Every fabric and motor option is walked through in person at your free on-site estimate, so you're choosing based on samples in your own light, not a catalog photo.

Compare Options

Retractable Awnings vs. Other Shade Options

Stationary Awning

Permanent coverage at a lower cost, but it blocks the sky entirely and can't adjust to weather or sun angle.

Louvered Pergola

Adjustable slats and often a fully enclosed option, offering the most control — at a significantly higher price point than a retractable awning.

Keep It Looking New

Keeping Your Retractable Awning in Shape

South Jersey's salt air and storm season make maintenance more important here than for an inland installation. All Seasons Awnings offers seasonal take-down and storage before harsh winter weather sets in, spring re-installation and re-tensioning, fabric cleaning and mildew treatment, and motor or mechanism repair if something stops working correctly. Most of our retractable awning customers move onto a recurring seasonal service plan after their first year, so the awning gets professionally inspected and serviced twice a year without having to remember to call.

Common Questions

Retractable Awnings FAQ

All Seasons Awnings & Fabric Structures is South Jersey's licensed retractable awning specialist — NJ Home Improvement Contractor #13VH07498700, family-owned since 2012, serving Cape May County and the greater South Jersey shore. Every awning is designed, fabricated, and installed in-house by owner Paul. Call (609) 741-0739 for a free on-site estimate.
Most manual retractable awnings run roughly $2,500–$5,000 installed, and motorized units with smart controls typically run $4,500–$9,000+, depending on size, fabric, and features. Exact pricing depends on your space — a free on-site estimate gives you a firm number.
A manual retractable awning opens and closes with a hand crank, while a motorized awning uses a remote or app-controlled motor, often paired with wind and sun sensors that retract it automatically in bad weather. Motorized units cost more but add convenience and storm protection.
Most residential retractable awnings range from 8 to 20 feet wide and 8 to 12 feet of projection, though wider spans are possible with reinforced frames or a multi-unit setup. Paul measures your exact space at your free on-site estimate to recommend the right size.
Yes, when built for it. All Seasons Awnings uses solution-dyed acrylics like Sunbrella and Dickson that resist salt-air fading and mildew, and motorized units can be fitted with wind sensors that automatically retract the awning before gusts cause damage.
Most residential retractable awning installations are completed in a single day once the frame is fabricated. Fabrication typically takes a few weeks after your order, since every awning is built in-house to your exact measurements rather than pulled from stock.
Yes — retractable awnings can be mounted directly to most existing deck framing, house fascia, or a freestanding support structure where wall mounting isn't an option. Paul evaluates your structure at the free estimate to confirm the right mounting approach.
Yes. All Seasons Awnings repairs the retractable awnings we install as well as units installed by other companies — fabric replacement, motor and mechanism repair, and re-tensioning. Call (609) 741-0739 to schedule a repair visit.
